We could not be more proud to bring home FOUR BIA awards from the Building Industry Association of Central Ohio’s BIG Night! The BIG Awards were created to honor the top achievers in the new home industry … and this was our best year yet!
In addition to bringing home the prize for Best Print Ad that showcased our Outdoor Living Designs and our amazing partners at StruXure, two of our projects won “Best of” in their respective categories. And, wait for it … we won the Grand Award!

Muirfield Kitchen
Clearly, we make an impression. This project was the third project with this client, which is really the greatest compliment that we can receive. Although a close second is that Susan was invited to join the client’s book club after the first project!
What began as a kitchen renovation evolved into a full first-floor update. In order to enlarge what was originally a relatively small and dark kitchen that lacked an island, we reconfigured the space to make the most of the available square footage. But because the client was having difficulty envisioning the new space, all demolition was done before anything else – including final design and ordering supplies. This took the project a bit longer to complete, but the homeowner was much happier for waiting.
From replacing all of the old prefinished hard to installing taller painted baseboards and updating wall colors, we were able to completely overhaul the entire space and change the look and feel of the entire first floor with help from designer Kristen Duschemin. And the new, large island is convenient for prep and entertaining and the homeowners are enjoying showing it off by entertaining family and friends.
Our favorite thing – A customized coffee station in the walk-in pantry!

Grandview Whole House Renovation & Addition
This neglected Grandview home was in need of a complete down-to-the-stud EPIC overhaul to replace old and outdated wiring, plumbing and HVAC systems…not to mention some awful kitchen cabinets!
Of course, a little surprise with the foundation – or lack thereof – kept us guessing in the early stages of the project. When we began the two-story addition to the home, it was quickly discovered that the portion of the home being added on to did not have a traditional foundation … Yikes! With just stacks of stone that needed to be replaced, we had to hold up the existing two-story home and put in a new foundation before we could proceed with the rest of the project.
The upside, however, is that because we had connected with the homeowner while they were still working with an architect, we were able to collaborate on a plan that updated ALL mechanicals and finishes, but kept the original character of the home, including original built-ins found in the living room and dining room as well as the original hardwood.
Minor changes to the original floor plan allowed for a seamless transition to the new two-story addition that increased the size of the kitchen, added a family room and a gorgeous master suite on the second floor. The original oak floors were salvaged in most areas of the first floor and original pine floors were kept in two upstairs bedrooms. Additional built-ins were added to complement the originals we had restored.
Our favorite thing – A secret door to the home office (cue the suspense music!)
Grand Award
Remodeler
And the Granddaddy of them all … ! We were honored to win the Grand Award for the Remodeler category. Over the past few months, we have worked to find the right balance between change and tried & true methods and we are incredibly grateful for our team and our clients that have helped us to do just that. We have joined the Zoom crowd, using the virtual platform to connect with our clients and employees in order to keep everyone safe while still moving forward.
We are so proud of our Epic Team for maintaining the level of quality we are committed to delivering to our clients while we’ve figured out how to keep everyone safe and comfortable. EPIC’s history in this industry moves between new construction and renovations, but our clients’ needs are always the same…to know we listen to their questions and concerns and deliver the highest quality service and product possible. And occasionally we even get invited to a Demo Day party! #ThatisEpic
