Our mission at Epic Group is to deliver high-end custom finishes for our clients, with a personalized approach. We take the time and attention needed to create the space, functionality, and beauty that you have dreamt of for your renovation, new addition, outdoor oasis, or custom-built new home.
With that approach comes the need for a team committed to providing the best quality projects and service possible. As a boutique general contractor, we work to create the perfect design-build team for each of our projects once we’ve met each client and understand their vision. Along with the best suppliers and trades in the industry, we have developed an unparalleled team that will take your project from beginning… to EPIC end!
We love for you to get to know our team members, which is why keeping our company small allows us to hire extremely qualified individuals who continue our long-standing reputation of exceeding our customers’ expectations. We recently had the opportunity to chat with Mandy Dyas, Scheduling + Administrative Support to learn more about the Epic team.
Q&A With Mandy Dyas
Why did you get involved with Epic? I started working with Epic during Covid when Real Estate was essentially at a standstill. It began as just helping out with scheduling but quickly grew into a more prominent administrative role.
What inspired you to pursue a career in real estate / home building? My real estate career started back in 2013 before my husband and I got married. We always knew we didn’t want our kids in daycare full time and this was a job I knew that could be flexible. During Covid, when real estate was slow and I started helping with Epic, it was an easy transition to help Joe, Bob, and Susan with the home building and remodeling side of things.
What advice would you give someone going through a home renovation for the first time? The best advice I can think of is to be prepared before you begin. Clearly have your scope of work mapped out, your finishes selected and maintain your expectations. Making a lot of changes late in the game only prolongs your project and increases your costs.
What do you think makes Epic stand out from other homebuilders? 100% of it is the relationships we build with our clients. We get to know them on a more personal level than a normal “franchise” type business. We take the time at the beginning to really understand what they want, that way we can deliver the most exceptional product to them.
What’s your favorite room in a home? My favorite space in our personal home is our patio in the backyard. I love to relax by a fire on a cool night and watch football with my husband. In general, however, I really love the coziness of a large family room with high ceilings and a fireplace.
What’s your favorite Epic project in their portfolio? The custom home that we built in Historic Dublin is my favorite. This home burned down after being struck by lightning when we were about 70% complete and it was absolutely devastating. The rebuilding of it wasn’t “seamless” by any means but the perseverance and determination by the owners and the entire Epic team was truly spectacular. The home is amazing too, but the story behind it is what makes it special. My favorite area of the home is the main floor, which is entirely open with vaulted ceilings and natural beams, and you really just feel “at home” as soon as you walk in.
What do you like to do outside of work? Right now, our boys are in their sports era, so when we aren’t on a football field or at the hockey rink you can usually find us spending time with friends or family. We love to watch sports (go Browns and Bucks!), check out new local spots that are family-friendly, travel to the beach, go to concerts, and spend time outdoors. In the summer you can find us up at Indian Lake on the boat enjoying the sunshine!
What’s your favorite local restaurant? It’s not necessarily a “restaurant” but our favorite local spot is the Center Street Market in Downtown Hilliard. It’s close to our house and very family-friendly. You can usually find us down there with the kids on a nice day enjoying the weather.
What does your dream home renovation look like? Right now, my dream home renovation is re-doing our kitchen. We have a dining room that we don’t use so I am currently long-term planning to expand our kitchen into the dining room, so we get more usable space.
